About Us
Horses have always been an important part of my life, since my first horse “Cookie”. As I grew, I always appreciated the value of a good horse. Several good horses later, I have been able to become a breeder of the kind of horses I so appreciated.
Dunny (Rocking J Lucky Dude) came into our lives as a neglected two-year-old. Fortunately, he was still a stud and had the AQHA papers to go with him. I definitely wasn’t thinking about a stud prospect at the time, as his condition was poor and he just needed good care to grow and develop into a good horse. Stressing Dunny in any way was not an option. As Dunny began to recover and fill out, he became the beautiful red dun specimen and definitely possessed all of the qualities that I looked for in a stud, it was an amazing transformation. We started riding him when he was 3 and found that he was very willing to learn and had the disposition to go the it. He was never mean, and just a delight to be around…. even when there were “girls” in the area he didn’t lose he mind! WOW, I think we have a stud prospect!!
That same year we put Dunny with 2 mares. We were very impressed with the foals he produced that next spring and the horse breeding program took off from there. Unfortunately, we lost Dunny in the fall of 2012. His legacy has continued with a son that next spring that we called Danny (CLR Driftwood Dan) and a son of his that we call Ham (CLR Sirendam Ham Iam). These studs continue to produce the kind of horses we like.
All of that being said about Dunny, we could not have started our program without good mares. The most influential line of mares has been the KING Fritz mares. This cross has yielded many good horses. Some of the other bloodlines prominent in our mares are Driftwood, Sugarbars, Easy Jet, Doc Bar, Dash for Cash and Shining Spark all have yielded foals that continue the traits we want to reproduce.
Long Box Quarter Horses are very easy on the eye, have great dispositions are willing to please and learn. These horses have made great ranch horses, arena horses and companions. Our horses have good size and conformation, supported by strong bones and feet and sensible minds…. everything a good horse needs!
